In line with the objectives of Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to enhance the quality of life in cities by providing commodities and services to residents 24/7, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior will now allow commercial activities to function round the clock. Starting from today, businesses that obtain a license to function 24 hours a day by installing cameras and surveillance systems at their stores can operate 24/7. License will be granted to firms depending on the shop’s area and the type of activity should not exceed SR 100,000.

However, the ministry has exempted eight businesses from the fee, namely, pharmacies, wedding halls, rest houses, medical activities, education activities, fuel stations (to fill fuel only), hotels, hotel suites and resorts.

Moreover, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs will coordinate together to ensure that employees are not made to work more than their usual working hours under the new circumstances.
