Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) revealed that over 8.4 million people have visited the Riyadh Season festival within a month-and-a-half. Riyadh Season will continue to provide entertainment to citizens in and around the capital city until late-January across all twelve designated locations.
The season, which was initially scheduled to wrap up on December 15 was extended by more than a month due to its amazing popularity and huge demand. Riyadh season is one of the eleven Saudi Seasons that aims to promote Saudi Arabia as a major tourism hub in the region.
The six major zones designated to fit the huge crowd and host programs include Riyadh Boulevard, Riyadh Front, Riyadh Car Exhibition, Riyadh Winter Wonderland, Riyadh Stadium and the Diplomatic Quarters. Additionally, secondary locations include Al Muraba’a, Al Malaz, Wadi Namar, Nabd Al Riyadh, Riyadh Safari, and Riyadh Sahara.
In line with Crown Prince Muhammed bin Salman’s ambitious reform plan to diversify the oil-dependent country’s economy to other sectors, Saudi Arabia is undergoing massive social and economic changes and has recently introduced tourism visas as well. The Kingdom has plans to become one among the top five tourism and entertainment destinations in the world by 2030.
